River levels are rising rapidly due to heavy rainfall today (November 27) in Waltham Forest, which is predicted to cause flooding. The government has issued a flood warning for some areas in the district, warning the public to remain safe.

Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the Ching Brook, including Highams Park. Areas most at risk include Empress Avenue, Waterhall Avenue, Studley Avenue, Haldan Road and West Walthamstow Forest.

The risk of flooding is expected to reduce as the day goes on. Residents are strongly urged to take action now, and remain safe and be aware of their surroundings.

The public are urged to monitor local water levels and weather conditions and consider putting flood plans into action. Locals should also avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.

The government is monitoring rainfall and checking rivers for blockages. Currently, the Ching Brook water level at Chingford was 0.65 metres, and the government are providing updates as the situation changes.
