A warning has been issued to anybody who banks with RBS, Halifax, NatWest and Lloyds as we head into October. Customers have been warned over a fresh swathe of bank closures up and down the country as the tenth month of the year kicks off.

John Wilson, a senior research writer at Which? said: "There are still plenty of people and small businesses that rely on local banks, who either don't want to or cannot engage with the digital revolution."

In 2023, Lloyds Banking Group (which includes Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland) announced it would close 45 branches. This process began in March 2024. Now Lloyds has announced that 128 Lloyds Bank branches, 119 Halifax branches and 45 Bank of Scotland high-street locations will have closed by the end of 2025.
