REPORTS in the media today suggest that the consortium looking to purchase Wasps are looking at Sixways as a potential home for the former Coventry-based Premiership club.

Wasps' preferred bidders - Wasps Legends - have supposedly looked into the possibility of a potential groundshare situation with Worcester Warriors, who are also in administration, as the likelihood of returning to their previous home - The Coventry Building Society Arena - is becoming increasingly unlikely.

There were also very fleeting discussions earlier in the summer that Wasps proposed a merger with Worcester, something that was rejected instantly once brought to the table.

The Worcester News understands this new proposal is not something that has been put forward and would be unlikely to be considered.

Warriors' preferred bidders, the consortium lead by Jim O'Toole and James Sandford, remain the front runners to buy Worcester and no doubt Sixways will remain their home.

So then the possibility of both sides playing their home games at Sixways but with Worcester Raiders (non-league football side) and the Warriors Women also playing their home games out of the 11,000 capacity stadium, where Wasps and their women's team would fit would be a challenge.

The Worcester News has approached both O'Toole and Sandford for a comment, as well as administrators Begbies Traynor.

This news comes after months of turmoil for both clubs, their communities and supporters.

Whilst both have preferred bidders in place, the futures of the two clubs remain up in the air.

Both have been suspended from rugby competition this season (2022/23) and have been relegated to The Championship - should they indeed reform - from next season (2023/24).
