Watch the latest 'Alien: Covenant' trailer

20th Century Fox has unveiled the first full trailer for "Alien: Covenant", the latest in director Ridley Scott's iconic sci-fi series.

According to the studio, this chapter of the franchise sees the crew of the colony ship Covenant travel to a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, but their discovery of what appears to be an uncharted paradise soon turns into a dark, dangerous world filled with terrifying xenomorphs.

The cast includes Oscar-nominee Michael Fassbender (who starred in 2012's "Prometheus"), Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demian Bichir and Carmen Ejogo.

British filmmaker Scott released the first "Alien" movie in 1979.

"Alien: Covenant" opens in cinemas on May 19.
