The first tennis Grand Slam of the year is under way with the Australian Open in Melbourne.

Novak Djokovic and Naomi Osaka have set out to defend their titles but the competition is fierce and they will have to battle hard to reach the finals.

With Melbourne 11 hours ahead of the UK, the Australian Open can be tricky to watch for those who have to get up for work in the morning.

The competition has already started, with some significant casualties in the early rounds, and here's how you can keep up with all the action.

How to watch the Australian Open 2020

The competition will be available to watch on live on TV and online, through Eurosport and Eurosport Player for UK viewers.

A monthly pass will set you back £6.99.

The Eurosport Player Channel is also available through Amazon Prime, and will cost £6.99 a month. A seven day free trial is also available.

You will also be able to follow all the action with Standard Sport’s live blogs throughout the tournament.

Highlights will also be shown on the BBC, starting from Saturday January 25 and usually broadcast in the evenings.

Matches start at 11am in Australia on all of the courts, which is 12am GMT in the UK.

When are the Australian Open finals?

The women’s final will take place on Saturday 1 February with the men’s final to follow on Sunday 2 February.
