Move over The Last Jedi – there's another Star Wars property in town, and not only do we get to feast our eyes on it sooner, but Star Wars Battlefront II also looks a lot more exciting than the upcoming film.

Well, from this new trailer at least.

(We'll withhold judgement until we get a complete look at both.)

The new trailer puts the focus on the game's new single-player campaign, which follows a special Imperialist trooper called Commander Iden Versio in a story following the destruction of the Death Star II and the death of the Emperor.

"We've been fighting our whole lives," Versio says in the trailer. "Today, the rebellion dies. The Empire's time has come."

With the game being set between Episode VI: Return of the Jedi and Episode VII: The Force Awakens, the trailer also teases the appearance of some iconic Star Wars figures, from Luke Skywalker, to Princess Leia and Maz Kanata too.

The campaign will lift content from comics as well as films and campaign director Mark Thompson previously explained what fans can expect from the single-player campaign.

"It isn't a discrete set of missions or separate War Stories like Battlefield 1," he told Eurogamer. "You do follow Iden through this journey whilst from time to time, switching sides and playing from the perspective of one of the iconic heroes because again that's just part of Battlefront's DNA."

Star Wars Battlefront II is out this week on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC – just in time to build up the extra Star Wars excitement ahead of the release of The Last Jedi on December 15.
