WATCH: Crowd Laughs At Robbers After Worker Locks Them In Phone Shop

CCTV footage has captured the moment a crowd gathered outside a shop to laugh at the two robbers who got stuck inside the store they were attempting to steal from.

The pair were trapped inside the Boost Mobile shop in New Jersey when worker Tomy Torrez secured the store’s front and back doors.

But despite his heroics, the pair were eventually able to escape 20 minutes later, after police failed to arrive because they didn’t think it was an emergency.

Two different police operators mistakenly believed that it was an incident of shoplifting, and failed to dispatch a police unit immediately

In the footage, the pair can be seen desperately attempting to pry the doors open with a broom .

Mr Torrez was able to trap the pair after opening a back door that connected to another office, before blocking it and running to the front of the shop to lock it from the outside.

He said: ‘I say, check the walls and take whatever you want. So when they were busy I start running to the back.’

The pair eventually escaped, and police are still searching for the two men.
