Watch drug dealer lead Warwickshire Police in dangerous 110mph chase in a van

Warwickshire Police have released footage of a van driver who led police on a chase at speeds of up to 110mph.

The van driver was filmed weaving in and out of traffic on the edge of control. Abrupt braking, close calls with other traffic, and even driving the wrong way down a one way lane resulted in a crash on a dual carriageway at which the driver was arrested.

It also shows astonished drivers pulling out of the way of the van, with seconds to spare. The footage is from an incident earlier this year in March in which police pursued and arrested 31 year old drug dealer Billy Whiteside.

Whiteside pled guilty to possession with intent to supply cannabis, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance. The 31-year-old failed to stop for police after his van was spotted jumping a red light on Leicester Road, Rugby.

The police pursuit led them onto Bilton Road where he drove on the wrong side of the road. The pursuit came to an end after he crashed into a car and fled on foot. He was finally arrested on Main Street, Bilton.

A search of the van led to the seizure of a large quantity of cannabis, scales and three mobile phones.

PC Mateusz Dabrowski from Warwickshire Police said at the time that it was “an extremely dangerous pursuit that put other road users at risk. It was fortunate nobody was injured or worse.”

Whiteside received a 22 month prison sentence, suspended for a year. He was also banned from driving for a year.
