WATCH: Emmerdale's Isabel Hodgins recalls Manchester terrorist attack at Ariana Grande concert

Following the news that 22 people have died and 59 others have been injured after a suicide bomber attacked at Ariana Grande’s Manchester concert last night, Emmerdale actress Isabel Hodgins has spoken out.

Isabel, who plays Victoria Sugden in the ITV soap, was at the concert and witnessed the horror unfold first-hand, branding the act “despicable” in an interview with Sky News.

Reliving the terror, the 23-year-old actress explained: “We didn’t know if a balloon had gone off, because balloons had been released in the concert so we didn’t know if it was that.

“I think everybody was on a high because it had been a really good night and then all of a sudden everything changed.

“Just like that as soon as we heard that bang the whole mood changed. Lots of people running around, lots of people crying.

“At first I didn’t know if it was somebody with a gun. There was just the one bang and that was it. There was an overpowering smell of burning and if you looked down the corridor there was a lot of white smoke.

“Everybody was panicking, there was pushing up the stairs. People were obviously running, climbing down and over the chairs. Outside there was sheer panic. We saw police arriving and police assembling guns.”

Slamming the suicide bomber who carried out the attack, Isabel continued: “It is a celebration and people go and have a nice time and they’ve done nothing wrong.

“The fact that there was so many young children there it’s just despicable.”

Ariana has been left ‘broken’ by the attack.

The attack took place whilst thousands of concert-goers were leaving the venue just after Ariana finished her performance.

Heartbroken Ariana took to Twitter last night to express her sorrow at what happened, writing: “Broken. From the bottom of my heart, I am so so sorry. I don’t have words.”

She has since “indefinitely” suspended her international tour.
