How to Watch the Primetime Emmy Awards Red Carpet and Who Are the Hosts
E! starts its coverage an hour before the read carpet with “Live from E!: Countdown to the Emmys” at 5 p.m. ET. Hosted by Zuri Hall, “Happy’s Place” actress Melissa Peterman, E! style correspondent Zanna Roberts Rassi and fashion designer and “Project Runway” winner Christian Siriano, the panel will discuss the night’s biggest nominees and talk red carpet fashion trends before the stars even arrive. It will stream free on the E! TikTok account.
Starting at 6 p.m. ET, “Live From E!: Emmy’s” kicks off, giving audiences two hours of Primetime Emmy’s red carpet coverage. Laverne Cox and comedian Heather McMahan will hit the red carpet along with E! New’s Keltie Knight talking fashion and more to some of this year’s nominees. Both shows will stream live on E! and on the outlet’s social media accounts, including YouTube and Instagram.
“People” and “Entertainment Weekly” are also doing their Red Carpet Live show from the 2024 Emmys Awards red carpet at 6 p.m. ET, with hosts Patrick Gomez and Janine Rubenstein.
ABC’s live coverage starts an hour later at 6 p.m. ET on the network. Fans can stream for free on the channel’s YouTube, TikTok, X, Instagram and Facebook pages. The publications have also teamed up with Roku for the pre-show red carpet event, where it can also be watched for free.

When are the 2024 Emmy Awards?
Before the main event, the Creative Arts Emmys celebrated outstanding technical and artistic achievements. The series “Shōgun” was a standout, earning a record-breaking 14 awards, including accolades for its costumes and makeup.
In the costume categories, “Shōgun” was recognized for its period costumes, with Carlos Rosario as the costume designer. The series was praised for its authentic portrayal of historical attire of feudal Japan, the show’s setting. “Shōgun” also won big in the makeup categories, winning for both non-prosthetic and prosthetic makeup, thanks to the artistry of Rebecca Lee and her talented team. “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans” won for its meticulous period costumes in a limited or anthology series, designed by Lou Eyrich and her team.
“The Morning Show” received accolades for its contemporary makeup and hairstyling, showcasing the skills of Cindy Williams and Sanna Kaarina Seppänen, who crafted the show’s polished look for the news team at UBN.
Where to Watch the Primetime Emmy Awards
The 76th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards show starts at 8 p.m. ET. The live broadcast of the Emmys will be available on ABC this year. However, due to an ongoing carriage dispute between DirecTV and Disney, DirecTV subscribers may not have access to the ABC feed if no agreement is reached before the ceremony.
For those affected, alternative viewing options include streaming the ceremony through services like Fubo, Hulu + Live TV, Sling or YouTube TV. These platforms offer free trials, but a full subscription may incur additional costs. The show will not be on available to stream until the day after on Hulu’s basic service account. Other options include the ABC app, ABC.com and connected devices via Roku, Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV.
