Qualifying for the F1 Canadian Grand Prix gets underway later today.

Max Verstappen is out to maintain his Formula One championship lead after Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez put himself into second place last weekend.

Montreal hosts the second part of a fairly unusual double-header with the sport travelling all the way from Azerbaijan for this first race in Canada since the Covid pandemic broke out.

Charles Leclerc is chasing a fifth pole position in a row with Saturdays certainly not his biggest issue this season, and Lewis Hamilton will hope to put his Mercedes high up the grid to reassert some authority over colleague George Russell.
