A man on the run from police was chased into the arms of officers by a group of unlikely crimestoppers - a herd of cows.

The National Police Air Service captured footage of the animals rounding him up in their field in Devon after he fled the scene of a crime.

In an online statement filled with puns, a spokesperson for NPAS said: “Watch the moment a man on the run from Devon and Cornwall Police was herded up by a group of cows in Devon and mooved out of their field into the arms of waiting police officers - however we did have to remind the cows not to take the law into their own hoofs.

“It was a high steaks incident - he was told to stop running but it clearly went in one ear and out the udder - great team effort as always.”

A fellow police officer tweeted: “Trying to escape?? How dairy….”

Another wrote: “This is terrifying, his life was at steak! …………..I’ll get my coat.”

In response, one person said: “Meanwhile, Sir Loin later gave [an] interview on how his fellow cows rounded up the suspect.”

Another penned: “They should be udderly proud of their action.”

Whilst one wrote: “Suspect to face the ‘moo sic’.”
