As well-rehearsed as he is in the world of comedy, Louis CK always looks most at home musing over misery on a stand-up stage.

Alas, our Louie hasn't been back to the UK since his Hammersmith Apollo and Wembley Arena shows in London last summer – which is why we can't wait for his upcoming Netflix live special, Louis CK 2017. Lucky, then, it's just received its first trailer.

Set for release on April 4, this teaser shows our Louis prepping for a show in his dressing room, before walking out to a raucous crowd.

The comedian has had a busy couple of years since becoming the first stand-up to sell out New York's Madison Square Garden. Not only did he lend his voice to the hugely successful Secret Life of Pets, but he also wrote and directed two original series: the download-only Horace and Pete and FX's Better Things.

"Louis has been one of the most innovative comedy voices in this new era of stand-up," said Ted Sarandos, chief content officer at Netflix to Deadline . "He has also been a thought leader in the business of comedy."
