Watch: Forced to confess to the world by the Chinese state

Protesters in Hong Kong are still on the streets, furious that their leader, Carrie Lam, is trying to pass a bill which could send people to mainland China to face trial.

The judicial system in China is known for forced confessions, human rights abuses and torture. But the violations aren't only behind closed doors. Those standing trial are sometimes forced to confess on state television, which is then broadcast around the world.

British businessman Peter Humphrey was forced to confess on state TV, along with many others on trial in the communist state. Mr Humphrey was locked in an iron cage and handcuffed to his chair before giving the heavily edited 'interview'.

Although Ms Lam has delayed a vote on the bill, lawmakers are continuing to discuss it. Considering the pro-Beijing cohort of lawmakers, the controversial bill is likely to pass into law.
