UPDATED with Houston public viewing details, June 8: A public viewing will be held Monday at Fountain of Praise church in Houston for George Floyd, ahead of a private funeral service Tuesday. Today’s ceremony will be from noon-6 PM CT/9 AM-3 PM PT.
Mourners have been lining up all morning for today’s event as Floyd’s body was flown to Houston on Saturday and arrived at Fountain of Praise this morning in a gold casket. Because of COVID-19 restrictions only 500 will be allowed inside today for the viewing, meaning long lines in what local news outlets are saying could be one of the hottest days of the year.

Tuesday’s private funeral service is at Fountain of Praise at 11 AM CT/8 AM PT. Floyd, whose killing at the hands of Minneapolis police on May 25 set off worldwide protests over police brutality and calls for racial and social justice, grew up in Houston where he helped his high school football team to a state title and was in the city’s music scene as a rapper.
More details for the funeral will be provided Monday night.
UPDATED with North Carolina details, June 5: The second memorial service for George Floyd will be held Saturday near Fayetteville, NC, where he was born. The event will take place at Cape Fear Conference B Headquarters in Raeford, NC. A public viewing will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. ET, followed by a private, family-only service. Gov. Roy Cooper has ordered flags be flown at half-staff to honor Floyd.
Local station WRAL will broadcast the North Carolina memorial service at 3 p.m. ET on television, the web, via the WRAL News app and on its apps for Roku, Apple TV and Fire TV.
On Monday, a public viewing will be held in Houston, where Floyd was raised, from noon-6 p.m. CT at Fountains of Praise in Houston. Organizers say every visitor at the public viewing will be required to wear masks and gloves, and guests will occupy less than 600 of the church’s 2,300 seats.
On Tuesday, a memorial will be held for Floyd beginning at 11 a.m. CT, also at Fountains of Praise. Former Vice President Joe Biden is expected to attend.
PREVIOUSLY, Minneapolis memorial service details, June 4: Broadcast and cable networks will be covering Thursday’s memorial service for George Floyd, whose death at the hands of Minneapolis police on Memorial Day has sparked days of mourning and protests throughout the country and the world against police violence and racism.
The first of several memorial services for Floyd will be held Thursday in Minneapolis at North Central University’s Frank J. Lindquist Sanctuary. The Rev. Al Sharpton will deliver a national eulogy, and Floyd family attorney Ben Crump will give a national criminal justice address during the service, which will begin at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT.
Meanwhile, here is how the major networks are covering the memorial:
ABC News will cover Thursday’s service from 2-4 p.m. ET with ABC News Live Prime anchor Linsey Davis and correspondent Alex Perez reporting live from Minneapolis. Reports will air on World News Tonight with David Muir, Nightline, and ABC News Live Prime on Thursday and Good Morning America on Friday. ABC News also will have up-to-the-minute digital coverage of the memorial service on ABCNews.com and ABC News and Good Morning America social pages, along with live updates on the protests occurring around the country. ABC News Live – the network’s streaming news channel – will have live coverage of the memorial service anchored by Senior National Correspondent Terry Moran and live on-the-ground reporting from Minneapolis. Davis will anchor the channel’s evening news program, ABC News Live Prime, live from Minneapolis at 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. ET. Social newscast “On Location” will have a recap of the memorial service on Friday, June 5 – exclusively for Facebook Watch.
Fox News Channel will present continuous live coverage of the memorial service beginning at 2 p.m. ET headed by The Daily Briefing anchor Dana Perino. FNC will air live reports throughout the day by correspondents Mike Tobin, Matt Finn, and Steve Harrigan. Additional contributions will be made by FNC contributors Donna Brazile and Lawrence Jones, as well as Rep. Will Hurd (R-TX). Fox News Digital will stream the service live on FOXNews.com while FOX News Audio will provide coverage across all platforms, including FOX News Headlines 24/7, smart speaker hourly updates and reporting on the FOX News Rundown podcast.
NBC News will broadcast special coverage of the memorial service beginning at 2 p.m. ET. Lester Holt will anchor a special edition of NBC Nightly News live from Minneapolis at 6:30 pm. ET. At 10 p.m. ET, Holt will be joined by a team of NBC News journalists from across the country for a primetime special, America in Crisis, airing on NBC and NBC News Now. MSNBC host Craig Melvin also will report on Today live from Minneapolis with the latest leading up to the memorial service.
CBS News will begin its network coverage at 2 p.m. ET with CBS Evening News’ Norah O’Donnell anchoring a special report from Minneapolis. She will be joined there by CBS News chief justice and homeland security correspondent Jeff Pegues and national correspondent Jamie Yuccas for coverage of the memorial service. National correspondent Jericka Duncan will provide additional reporting from New York. CBS This Morning co-hosts Gayle King, Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil will begin the network’s coverage at 7 a.m. ET. CBSN, CBS News’ news streaming service, will provide live coverage of the memorial service throughout the day Thursday. CBS Evening News with Norah O’Donnell will also be broadcasting a special edition from Minneapolis at 6:30 p.m. ET.
CNN will cover the memorial in Minneapolis tomorrow from 2-4 p.m. ET, with Brooke Baldwin and Don Lemon anchoring coverage.
C-SPAN will be live starting 2 p.m. ET with coverage of the funeral. An online livestream will be here. Viewers can also use that same link to watch the funeral on-demand after the event and also make and share clips.
