We've already seen the moody first-look pictures, and now Sky Atlantic is giving us our first chance to see Lennie James and Suranne Jones in action in this gripping first trailer for upcoming Save Me.

The Walking Dead (and now Fear the Walking Dead too) star Lennie James is once again collaborating with the makers of Line of Duty to write and star in the London-set thriller – and it looks like it's going to be every bit as intense as the hit BBC series:

The series follows Nelly Rowe (James), a charming chancer who is desperately searching for the missing daughter he barely knows and who's targeted as the chief suspect in his daughter's disappearance.

Soon, he's reunited with the girl's mother Claire (played by Doctor Foster star Suranne Jones) and sets out to prove his innocence and catch the real culprit.

Speaking at a Sky showcase event last month, Jones described filming the series as being "therapeutic" for her.

"It was a real difficult time for me, personally," she said.

"I'd just lost my mother and I'd just had a child, so actually going to work and telling stories like this... it's kind of therapeutic in a very bizarre way.

"It was difficult, but I came out of it feeling like something had shifted, that something had happened."

As for James, he described his character as an "unlikely" hero, and reveals that the connection between Nelly and Claire has deep roots.

"My story is a thriller set on a housing estate in South East London and that's what's unlikely," he explained.

"Nelly is an unlikely hero and also their relationship... when you first see them together in the pub, you're thinking, 'There's no way those two were ever together – it would never, ever happen – that's just Lennie James's fantasy!'

"But then gradually, as you get to know their personalities, you see what it was that he did for her and what she did for him."

Save Me premieres on Sky Atlantic in 2018.
