Watch horror moment Storm Eowyn blows the roof off East Kilbride flats
As a 100mph gust of wind was recorded in South Lanarkshire during Storm Eowyn, residents watched in horror as a roof was blown off a block of flats in East Kilbride.
The shocking video, sent to Lanarkshire Live, shows roofing being blown clean off the three-storey residential building in Lyttleton this afternoon as hurricane-force gales wreak havoc across the country.
A shocked neighbour, who filmed the incident, said: "I couldn't believe the damage. I just seen that it was lifting and knowing it was going to go. Unfortunately these roofs always seem to come off in bad winds. It's scary."
A rare red weather warning for “very strong winds” that could present a “danger to life”, remains in force from 10am until 5pm today.

The Met Office has said that the storm could cause a "danger to life" over "flying debris".
And widespread destruction to buildings has been reported across the town with reports of roof damage to the Red Deer Day Care Centre, Greenhills Community Hall and residential properties in Windward Road.
Police were alerted to the Red Deer, in the Westwood area, after high winds tore the roof off the centre in Alberta Avenue.
And pictures show more roof damage to houses in the town's Windward Road.
The high winds have caused very dangerous driving conditions with cars trapped under fallen trees on roads, power cuts to thousands of homes across Lanarkshire, damage to buildings and homes and roads, bridges and the suspension of all trains.
Police advice is to stay at home and avoid travelling.
The local authority has announced the closure of multiple roads due to fallen trees and road traffic accidents (RTAs).
Police Scotland and South Lanarkshire Council were contacted for comment.
