Watch: Indian man, 23, breaks world record by stuffing 459 drinking straws into his mouth at once

This is the jaw-dropping moment an Indian man managed to break the Guinness World Record by shoving a staggering 459 drinking straws into his mouth.

Manoi Kumar Maharana smashed the record for the most straws by keeping them in his mouth for 10 seconds without using his hands.

The record was previously held by German man Simon Elmore for eight years after he managed 400 straws.

But 23-year-old Manoi is now celebrating his win after revealing he has wanted to hold a Guinness title since he was a boy.

Manoi, from the state of Odisha, eastern India, is the official record holder for this variation of the party trick.

But another variation, in which contenders can hold the straws in with their hands, was managed by another Indian man.

A man identified as Rishi held 496 straws in his mouth using his hands and won the Guinness record in 2016.

He even had all of his teeth removed so that he could fit more straws into his mouth, according to local media.

In order for a Guinness World Record to be granted, an adjudicator needs to be present to verify it.

The records were founded in 1955 and each year, the Guinness Book of World Records is published.

It is now available in 100 different countries and is printed in 23 different languages.
