Watch moment Rotherham riot dad is caught clutching his child among violence


Mason Reddy won't be scooping up any 'father of the year awards' in the near future after being locked up on a three-year sentence for his part in the Rotherham riot.

South Yorkshire Police have shared footage of the 24-year-old dad carrying his child while in attendance at the large-scale violent disorder. He was spotted by the force clutching his young child, with a pram in tow, outside a hotel housing refugees on Sunday, August 4.

The mob of far-right hooligans smashed up the Holiday Inn Express Hotel in Manvers. Reddy was caught on a police camera holding the child. He was was seen launching sections of wood fencing towards officers in the cordon.

Reddy’s decision to wear a jacket with the name of his Sunday league football team on ultimately led to him being caught. The distinctive jacket led to several officers identifying Reddy, leading to his arrest on August 22.

He was charged with violent disorder and pleaded guilty to the offence. Reddy, of Victoria Street, Goldthorpe, was jailed for three years.
