A waitress has become a sensation at Oktoberfest in Munich after she was filmed carrying a tower of 13 steins of beer to thirsty customers.
The video, posted to TikTok, shows local waitress Verena Angermeier swiftly constructing a three-storey tower out of the litre-size beer glasses, before balancing them on her way to a table.
The construct is estimated to weigh almost 30kg.
The footage has clocked up close to 60 million hits, turning the waitress into a local celebrity at this year’s beer festival.
“Guests now order more thanks to the video,” she told German tabloid Bild.
“Even if there are only eight people at the table, they always order 13 beers so that they can film me with the beer tower,” she said.
“Of course, that also has an effect on the tip box and in sales.”
Ms Angermeier, 30, waitresses at the Schützen-Festzelt, one of the oldest and largest tents at the festival, with a capacity of more than 6,000.
Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenegger, who lived in Munich before becoming a film star, regularly attends Schützen-Festzelt on his visits to the Bavarian city, where he has been seen conducting the brass band on the tent’s central stage.
Waitering at Oktoberfest is a famously demanding job.
Service personnel in the tents are on their feet for 12-hour shifts and are known to cover a distance of up to 12 miles each day.
The gruelling shifts pay off financially, with waiters and waitresses reported to take home up to €5,000 (£4,335) after the 16-day drinkathon.
Carrying 13 beers in one go, however, is by no means a record. The record is 19 glasses for a waitress and 29 for a waiter.
