Rory McIlroy has had a brilliant morning at the BMW PGA Championship to put himself right in contention for the £1.15million first prize.

The Northern Irishman sat four shots off overnight leader Matt Baldwin of England following Friday's second round at Wentworth. But McIlroy came storming out of the blocks on Saturday with a spectacular eagle at the fourth to halve the deficit.

The 35-year-old then claimed a birdie at seven as he made further inroads into the lead. And his impressive form carried on after the turn as McIlroy birdied the 10th to move level with Baldwin.
