Watch the “Twisters” cast react to their costar David Corenswet landing Superman role
"That's our Superman, baby!" Brandon Perea and others shouted on set when the casting news reached them.
Look, up in the sky! It's a bird, it's a plane! No, it's the Superman...casting announcement, which apparently hit while future Man of Steel David Corenswet was still working on Twisters.
Corenswet was officially revealed as DC's new Superman on June 27, 2023, alongside the casting of Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. At that time, Corenswet was best known for his roles in Ryan Murphy's shows The Politician and Hollywood. But he was also in the midst of filming Twisters, in which he played Scott, the business partner of storm chaser Javi (Anthony Ramos). His costars couldn't have been more excited.

Brandon Perea, who played videographer Boone in Twisters, shared a TikTok this week that shows him, Glen Powell, and other cast members enthusiastically congratulating Corenswet.
"We at Twisters love our Superman, David Corenswet," Perea wrote in the caption of his TikTok post.
The video features Perea, Powell, Sasha Lane, and other Twisters cast members loudly cheering at the camera.
"That's our Superman, baby!" Perea shouts. He then declares, "I'm gonna try to fly" before leaping into the air. "Oh no," he says offscreen as the video comes to an end.

Superman isn't set to hit theaters until next summer (July 11, 2025 to be specific), but expectations and stakes are high. The superhero film will be directed by Guardians of the Galaxy mastermind James Gunn, and will be the first live-action movie in the new DC cinematic universe overseen by Gunn and producer Peter Safran (the animated series Creature Commandos later this year will be the actual first installment in the new franchise).
Unlike many past Superman movies, Corenswet's Clark Kent will be far from the only superhero in next year's blockbuster. Gunn's Superman is also set to feature Milly Alcock as Supergirl, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, among others. But if those stars treat Corenswet as jovially as his Twisters cast did, the new Superman should have no problem taking his rightful place at the center of a new cinematic saga.
