Water Cascades From Top of Philadelphia's One Liberty Place

Water was filmed cascading from the top of Philadelphia’s One Liberty Place onto the street below on November 3, prompting a flurry of speculation on social media as to what was causing it.

WHYY’s Billy Penn shared this footage of water streaming from the building on Market Street, close to Philadelphia City Hall, saying it had continued for five minutes, soaking the street below.

The Philadelphia Fire Department told Storyful the building was conducting a controlled test of an internal system and the department was not called to the scene. Storyful was not immediately able to contact a representative from One Liberty Place for comment.

Billy Penn shared reaction from social media users, with one speculating it was the mayor’s new “street cleaning initiative,” while another joked that it was a celebration of Daylight’s Saving Time. Credit: WHYY’s Billy Penn via Storyful
