The water from a stretch of river has disappeared and experts are now investigating why
Natural Resources Wales were called to investigate after water from a section of river "disappeared". Officers attended Gwendraeth Fawr at Mynydd Mawr Park after receiving reports part of the river had run dry.
Their investigations found water had been lost along around 250 metres of the river, which it said is suspected to have been caused by a failure of an historic blocked culvert, leading to the water being diverted from its natural course.
Officers now plan to work with Carmarthenshire Council to establish who owns the culvert and discuss improvement works. For the latest Carmarthenshire news, sign up to our newsletter here.

A statement from Natural Resources Wales read: "Our officers have been on site [Tuesday, September 11] at Gwendraeth Fawr in Mynydd Mawr Park, Carmarthenshire, following reports that the river flow has disappeared. Initial investigations confirm that water has been lost for approximately 250 metres of the river.
"We suspect a failure of a historic blocked culvert leading to the full flow of the Gwendraeth Fawr being diverted away from its natural course. Our officers are working closely with the local authority to establish the culvert owner and discuss improvement works.
"We will be monitoring the situation over the next few days to try and minimise any impact on the environment." Join our WhatsApp news community here for the latest breaking news.
