David Moyes has handed Marko Arnautovic the chance to impress early on, naming him in the starting for his first game in charge, away at Watford.

The club record signing has been out of favour having underperformed under former manager Slaven Bilic, and – while giving the Austrian a clean slate – Moyes has made it clear he must work hard to remain in the side.

The former Everton and Manchester United manager has also deemed Winston Reid fit enough to start, having only arrived back from international duty with New Zealand on Friday morning and training twice with his new manager.

Watford, who remain without suspended captain Troy Deeney after his altercation with Joe Allen, are able to name Heurelho Gomes in goal, after he was withdrawn with a gashed head against Everton.

Watford XI: Gomes; Mariappa, Kabasele, Britos; Femenía, Cleverley, Doucouré, Zeegelaar; Hughes, Richarlison; Gray

West Ham XI: Hart, Zabaleta, Reid, Ogbonna, Creswell, Obiang, Kouyate, Noble, Lanzini, Arnautovic, Carroll
