Strong winds whipped up waves along Florida’s east coast on Thursday, November 10, after Storm Nicole made landfall, briefly as a hurricane, early in the day.
Video livestreamed by the New Smyrna Beach Fire Department on Thursday morning shows waves washing over the beachfront of the Florida city.
The National Hurricane Center said a dangerous storm surge was expected to affect parts of coastal Florida and Georgia, which would be accompanied by “large and damaging” waves.
