Wayne Rooney's short and sweet message to Plymouth Argyle fans

Wayne Rooney addresses fans in his first personal message as the new head coach of Plymouth Argyle. The former England captain is raring to go as he told fans "see you all soon".

In the short but sweet clip the 38-year-old, who is reportedly looking for a property in Devon for him, his wife and kids, he said he was "delighted" to have got the job.

Posting to Facebook earlier today (Monday, May 27, Plymouth Argyle Football Club shared the nine-second clip during which Rooney said: "Hi Green Army, Wayne Rooney here. Delighted to be announced as head coach at the football club." Continues below.

He followed that up with: "Hopefully, get a chance to see you all soon. Take care."

Fans were impressed at his dedication, sending "good luck" messages to Rooney and saying they were excited to see what his future at the club would bring. "Let’s just give him a chance I say," said another.

Rooney previously said he is "grateful for the opportunity" to be part of Plymouth Argyle's "exciting long-term journey", after being appointed head coach.

He left Birmingham City in January after just 15 games in charge and just months later signed a three-year deal to become head coach at Argyle after beating off strong competition for the position. The ex-Manchester United striker said: "Taking this role at Plymouth Argyle feels like the perfect next step in my career and I would like to thank the chairman and board for the faith they have shown in me.

"This is an opportunity to be part of an exciting project. I look forward to helping to build a squad of players to play expansive football and to entertain the Green Army."
