Weather Front Traveling Across Adriatic Sea 'Like Scene From Independence Day'

A large shelf could appeared over the seaside Italian city of Pescara on March 11, reminding one onlooker of a “scene from Independence Day”.

Rob Barke, who posted this footage, said the low-hanging cloud “evolved rapidly” as it approached land, reminding him of the 1996 Hollywood movie.

“As it passed over, the temperature rapidly dropped as very strong winds set in turning the beach into a violent dust storm,” he said. “At that point, me and my dog headed away from the beach to shelter from the blowing sand.” Credit: Rob Barke via Storyful
