Weather presenter Sian Lloyd breaks wrist after racing colleague while wearing wellies

Weather presenter Sian Lloyd has suffered a broken wrist after falling during a "stupid running race in wellies".

"Fell on set", she tweeted, posting a picture of herself in hospital with her left arm bandaged and a sling around her neck.

The presenter, 59, who used to work for ITV but is now employed by US broadcasters, said she could not thank the NHS enough after being treated first in Tewkesbury and then Cheltenham.

"About to go in to surgery," she said. "Staff here are beyond superb.

"I'm overwhelmed by how lovely and efficient everyone's been. Even got a piece of home-baked cake from a paramedic! Long live the NHS!"

Responding to a series of questions on Twitter, the presenter admitted her fall may eventually be seen on TV, saying: "Fell whilst racing against a colleague on a show. It's all been filmed!"

Despite sounding cheerful, Sian said she was sad to be off work while she recovers.

Working for US TV means she is travelling the world, she said, but "this broken wrist will mean cancelling quite a lot of filming in the near future. Sob".
