Weather Whiplash: Alabama Flips From 80 Degrees to Snow

Parts of the southern United States cooled dramatically on Sunday, January 2, as a weather system brought snow to the region following days of unseasonably high temperatures.

This video, shared by the National Weather Service’s Birmingham office, shows snow falling on Sunday evening. “After a high of 80 yesterday, here we are now at 35F with snow and gusty winds,” the NWS wrote in a tweet.

Alabama authorities reported “multiple crashes” on highways in the state due to icy conditions, according to local media.
