If you're in a part of the world that celebrates Christmas, it's possible that you spent at least part of the weekend either trying to untangle the set of lights you bought last year, or queuing up in your local hardware store to buy another set. It's a tradition.
At this time of year, half the globe goes crazy for lights. If you saw the viral clip from Brighton, purporting to show a disgruntled sparky's handiwork, you'll know what sort of thing were talking about.
Neighbours go head-to-head to see who can have the most outlandish display. Local high streets are transformed into wannabe Vegas Strips. Lights are what it's about for many, many people.
And that's why we'd love to see a 'before' and 'after' view added to Earth at Night. Because we reckon these shots, taken by an orbiting satellite, would show quite a difference at this time of year.
Festivities aside, this is a stunning view of our planet.
