Wedding River Boat Crash: Second Body Found

Wedding River Boat Crash: Second Body Found

A second body has been pulled from New York's Hudson River after a boat carrying six members of a wedding party crashed into a barge near a bridge.

Officials say the body is that of 30-year-old best man Mark Lennon, whose discovery comes after a body believed to be that of bride-to-be Lindsey Stewart was found in the water.

Police say a friend operating the boat, Jojo John, was drunk at the time of the crash and he has been charged with vehicular manslaughter.

Groom Brian Bond, 35, had alerted emergency services following the accident, despite suffering a head injury.

He was among four of the passengers who required hospital treatment.

Mr Lennon's brother, Raymond, told CBS: "(Mark) enjoyed life, he loved the outdoors.

"It wasn't a surprise to me or the family that he took the opportunity to get on the boat. He loved being with Brian and Lindsey and he was looking forward to being a part of their wedding."

Mr Bond and Ms Stewart were due to be married on August 10 at the same church where they had first met more than 20 years ago.

Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falcao said: "It's horrific. Nothing but time will heal this, but it will never be forgotten."

The group were aboard the 21-foot Stingray speedboat when it crashed into three construction barges tied together in the river on Friday night.

The barges were being used to help the construction of the new Tappan Zee Bridge.

County Sheriff William Barbera said Mr John was "intoxicated" while in charge of the boat.

He added that the night was clear but very dark "because there was less than a full moon."

"But there were lights on the barge," he said.
