A behind-the-scenes clip from the upcoming season was released in September, which saw Ortega's co-star Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams) tease: "This season is going to be bigger and more twisted than you can ever imagine."

Wednesday showrunners and executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar told Netflix's Tudum that the second season will explore "more Addams Family lore", with the duo adding they are "excited to introduce an eclectic lineup of incredible new characters".

It was recently confirmed that Lady Gaga has also joined the cast for season two, though details of her role are being kept under wraps for the time being.

Ortega has previously hinted that Wednesday's second season will have a darker tone to the first run of episodes, saying viewers can expect something "a little bit more horror-inspired" while remaining mindful of the show's all-ages audience.

"Not to say that suddenly we're the goriest show of all time," she added.
