The best shows on TV this weekend: 4-6 June

It's a big weekend for television as the Bafta TV Awards take place on Sunday evening with Richard Ayoade hosting the ceremony, which will be broadcast on BBC One.

TV's become especially important to many over the past year, and some of the best shows in that time, like I May Destroy You, The Crown's season 4, and Normal People, are up for multiple gongs.

Friday also sees the return of the much loved Celebrity Gogglebox with new additions including Lorraine Kelly and her daughter Rosie as well as The Voice co-stars Tom Jones and Anne Marie.

Plus The Masked Dancer - which is somehow even more bizarre than the singing version - comes to an end.

Friday

Tom Allen's Quizness - 8pm - Channel 4

The comedian's delightfully silly quiz show is back with new contestants hoping for a shot at the prize money.

They've got to put their pride aside and prepare to look a bit daft if they want to go home with £25,000.

Celebrity Gogglebox - 9pm - Channel 4

The starry version of the much-loved programme comes back for another series, with returning telly watchers including Bez and Shaun Ryder as well as Denise Van Outen and Eddie Boxshall.

This week they'll be watching Friends: The Reunion, The Masked Dancer, Supervet Special: Saving my Dog, Jurassic Park, Secret Crush, Bake Off: The Professionals, Hometown Horror and This Morning.

Sweet Tooth - Netflix

Netflix's new fantasy series Sweet Tooth lands on the streaming service on Friday.

The show, which has been co-produced by Robert Downey Jr, centres around Gus (Christian Convery), a child who was born part-animal and part human. He's been born into a generation of hybrids who emerged after a virus swept around the world.

Gus sets out on an extraordinary adventure with a loner named Jeppered, who is played by British actor Nonso Anozie.

Saturday

The Masked Dancer - 7.30pm - ITV

It's the final of one of the strangest shows on television this weekend as it comes down to the final few celebrities.

This week has already seen the likes of Zoe Ball, Dita Von Teese and Christopher Dean unmasked but who else is hiding behind the elaborate costumes? There can only be one winner, though.

Pointless Celebrities - 7.50pm - BBC One

Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman host a special presenters edition of the tough quiz show.

The participants this week include Matthew Wright, Rav Wilding, Paul Martin, Holly Hamilton, Mark Lane, Janet Street-Porter CBE, Martin Roberts and Fee Mak.

Sunday

Bafta TV awards - 7pm - BBC One

Richard Ayoade hosts the Bafta TV awards, with help from guest presenters including Strictly winner Bill Bailey, Line of Duty's Adrian Dunbar and Bridgerton's Golda Rosheuvel.

Steve McQueen's Small Axe mini-series is expected to win big as it leads with 15 nominations.

The show will open with a special performance from Years and Years, as It's a Sin star Olly Alexander performs single Starstruck.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again - 8pm - ITV

The brilliant sequel to Mamma Mia airs on ITV this weekend, and it's not one to be missed.

It revisits Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) on the Greek island but also takes us back to the summer she was conceived as mother Donna (Lily James) sets about finding her destiny.

Cher even turns up for an extra special guest appearance and delivers a rousing performance of Fernando - what more could you want.
