The venue was a famous pit-stop cafe that allowed truckers a deserved peice of respite in their long haul journeys, as they served a selection of breakfast and lunch foods. The opening hours of the cafe were tailored to these types of customers as they were open seven days a week from 7am.

The new 66-bed care home will specialise in dementia care, and will be creating 55 new jobs - 33 full time and 22 part-time.

In relation to the closure of the cafe, South Derbyshire Disitrct Council officials told the local democracy service: "The loss of a cafe and truck stop are acknowledged however these are not considered to robustly outweigh the benefits of the scheme.”

While plans are set to go ahead, they have come under heavy fire after six official objection letters were submitted by local residents. The objections detailed a under-pressure sewage system and drainage issues that were due to a neighbouring 385 Bellway homes housing devleopement.
