New wellness retreat featuring two hotels, a spa and restaurants set to open in Yorkshire
A new wellness retreat is set to open.
As we’ve previously reported, the much-anticipated Saltmoore wellness retreat will be based in North Yorkshire. Opening on Thursday, November 14, it will see the complete transformation of the former Raithwaite Sandsend.
Positioned between the unspoilt coastline and the heather-clad North York Moors, Saltmoore will offer two hotels, Saltmoore House and The Beach House, with a total of 72 rooms, a state-of-the-art spa with treatments by Wildsmith, and three dining venues overseen by Michelin-starred Chef Consultant Tommy Banks.

At the heart of the estate Saltmoore House, a sophisticated 43-room hotel, will feature indulgent interiors inspired by the sea and moors. Guests can expect spacious rooms throughout, from cosy ‘Snug’ rooms to luxurious suites, many with balconies and roll-top baths. The Beach House, a family-friendly 29-room property, will offer relaxed, coastal-inspired accommodation with woodland views, outdoor tubs, and dog-friendly options.
The spa, called The Sanctuary at Saltmoore, will provide a holistic escape with an indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and six treatment rooms, featuring Wildsmith products and treatments inspired by the surrounding natural elements. Guests can also enjoy a cryotherapy chamber, gym, and the Wellness Café, serving smoothies, bone broth, and seasonal healthy dishes.
Saltmoore’s dining experience will be led by Head Chef Adam Maddock, alongside Michelin-starred Consulting Executive Chef Tommy Banks. Dining options include a laid-back brasserie, a wellness café, and a gourmet restaurant opening in Spring 2025.
Set within 85 acres of woodland, the estate offers a variety of wellness-focused and outdoor activities, from cold water swimming to cycling and stargazing. Nature lovers will also enjoy spotting wildlife such as deer and badgers across the grounds.
