Welsh people are replying to a couple who moved from London to Wales and found it 'boring'
Welsh people have been responding to a couple who moved back to London only six months after relocating to Wales for a quieter life. Tess and Jimi Aldcroft told a national newspaper that the move to Brecon was initially to escape the intensity of London.
They thought it would be the perfect place to leave their 70-hour working weeks behind and have a more relaxing pace of life, but it did not work out for them and they returned to the capital after just six months.
NHS administrator Tess, 35, told the Daily Mail that she thought it was going to be "a lot easier" than it was and claimed that the local people were not "very kind".

She said: "I thought it was going to be a lot easier. [I thought] if we can survive London then of course we can survive the countryside. We weren't as prepared for loneliness, the inconvenience. We were really arrogant in that respect."
Adding: "There were a lot of things that didn't make us enjoy the area. They weren't our kind of people. They weren't very kind. We found Wales really judgy. The people were nosy because they had nothing else to do. They would talk about us for lack of anything better going on."
Talking about her husband, she said: "Jim absolutely hated it. They was so xenophobic about him being Australian. It was more because he wasn't local. Jim spent his entire adult life travelling around Europe and he said Wales was the only place he was judged for being Australian."
There has been a strong response from Welsh people with one asking: "Absolutely devastated to hear that this couple has left. Gutted. Heartbroken. What WILL we do here in boring Wales without them?"
There was also support from a social media user who moved here more than two decades ago, who said: "I moved to Wales 25 years ago and I absolutely love and adore Wales and Welsh people."
Johnny Bach said: "Perhaps their issue is that they were expecting to find activity because it's always on tap in London. In the country, the community is what you make it, so you have to be proactive and get involved with stuff!"
Judith Johnson said: "I moved to Wales 5 years ago. Mae Aberhonddu y lle yn fwy cyfeillgar dw i wedi erioed yn byw! (Brecon is the friendliest place I've ever lived)"
Chris Thomas said on X: "I moved to Brecon eight years ago and I certainly don’t recognise the town that they’re talking about."
