This Welsh streetfood stall has just been named best in Britain
A Welsh street food stall has won the overall title of best streetfood in Great Britain at the 2024 British Street Food Awards. Pasta A Mano, a pop-up pastaria from Cardigan, who were named the Welsh Street Food Awards champion in June, took their dishes to compete in London this weekend, beating out the competition and taking home the biggest award.
The judging panel, made up of the UK's finest Michelin-star chefs, food campaigners and street food legends, were impressed by Pasta A Mano's handmade pasta and breads which champion the best of Welsh ingredients. They will now go on to represent GB at the European Street Awards grand final in Germany in October.
Pasta A Mano's Welsh vongole - a linguini with fresh cockles, fried guanciale and organic heirloom tomatoes - won Best Main Dish at the awards, and was a key reason why the Cardigan pastaria were crowned British champions.

Pasta A Mano have developed a cult following for their authentic Italian street food. The business, run by boss Derw Robertson Jacobs and his colleague Jack, was born out of a work trip to Osteria Fratelli Pavesi in Piacenza. You can read more about Pasta A Mano, here.
They are now celebrating their national award and were welcomed home at the White Heart Community pub in St Dogmaels, Pembrokeshire where they fired up their pasta boiler for a pop-up. For the latest restaurant reviews, sign up to our food and drink newsletter here
Derw of Pasta A Mano said: “We feel so fortunate to have found a platform to share our love for the place we call home. The community of small scale producers and independent farmers is unique to the area and allows us to adopt the Italian cookery philosophy of using what’s on your doorstep. From pasture fed PGI Pembrokeshire Dexter beef to raw milk Caerphilly cheese from Ceredigion. Organically grown basil from the Preseli mountains to laver from a regenerative seaweed and shellfish farm in St David’s. It’s a tight knit community where we look after each other, so the chance to show it off to Europe is very exciting.”
Wales has excellent form at the British Streetfood Awards, back in 2021, Janet's Authentic Northern Chinese took home the title.
