Wendy's plans for new Aberdeen Union Street fast food outlet unveiled in Scottish first
An American fast food chain has unveiled plans to open its first Aberdeen restaurant in the location of the JD Sports shop on Union Street.
Wendy's - best known for their burger chains across the USA - is planning to spend £450,000 converting the clothing shop into a new food outlet.
The plans come amid a wave of new arrivals in the Granite City from across the pond, with Popeyes, Tim Horton's and Taco Bell all opening in recent years.

Popeyes most recently welcomed its first customers to its second site at Wellington Circle - a new drive-thru outlet - while German Doner Kebab has also joined Union Street.
As well, plans had previously been put to the city council for a first Wingstop outlet at Union Square amid a wave of new fast food additions to Aberdeen.
The Ohio-founded chain Wendy's first expanded into the UK by opening a restaurant in Reading back in 2021, with the nearest open branch to the north-east currently in Newcastle.
Bosses are continuing their UK-wide expansion plans, and are now looking to break into Scotland with the new eatery, which would sit just a stone's throw away from the likes of Popeyes, Taco Bell and McDonald's.
Dozens of fast food outlets currently line the city high street, with the likes of Burger King, KFC and Subway also having shops in the city centre.
QSR Projects have submitted a building warrant to the city council for the JD Sports shop, which has been up for rent on the Our Union Street website.
As well as their iconic burgers, Wendy's are best known for their range of breakfast options such as their bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches, servings of French toast, their 'Frosty' milkshakes, the 'Baconator' burger.
Fans can also try out 'Dave's Triple Combo' which comes as a towering triple cheeseburger, their range of chicken sandwiches and nuggets, and the collection of chicken and breakfast wraps.
Should the plans for the new fast food outlet be approved, it would become Wendy's first site in Scotland, with the brand currently boasting 34 outlets across England.
Locations include Brighton, Hull, Leeds, London, Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Preston, Sheffield and York.
