'I went to Scare City 2024 - it was a vibe but don't make the same costly mistake I did'
With Halloween just around the corner, spooky season is well and truly underway. And while pumpkin picking and trick-or-treating are some people's favourite way to mark the occasion, for others, it's all about the scare factor.
Enter: Scare City, the "north west's most shocking horror event". The immersive annual event, which was named the best scare attraction for Halloween 2023 by Scare Track, has once again taken up residence in the grounds of the abandoned Camelot theme park in Chorley.
Like Farmageddon and other similar Halloween experiences, Scare City "combines intricate set design", SFX and live actors to create a truly chilling environment. The award-winning attraction features 10 zones, with clowns, spiders and nuns just some of the characters you'll find on your way around the trail.
Taking to TikTok, the content creator behind luxury beauty brand Clomaná Beauty shared her experience of this year's event, explaining: "I hate when this time comes around." She then started the video by sharing the mistake she made that cost her money before even arriving at the event, recalling: "I had to quickly pop to Asda beforehand because it started pouring it down and I didn't have a jacket."
Once she arrived at the venue, she signed a disclaimer. "Now if this doesn't spook you out before you even get into the event, you've got to sign a disclaimer," she explained. "Because yes, it is possible that you could have a heart attack."
"Scare City is not for the faint-hearted but it's Halloween, I feel like you need to do something for Halloween."
The content creator then shared a glimpse at each of the zones, adding: "You had to walk through these tunnels and you just know something's going to jump out at you." She then revealed one of the highlights of the visit was the half-time break for food and drink.
"Tell you what I do love about Scare City though," she said. "At half-time you end up at a bar. There's loads of food and things to do, like dancers and actors. It's actually a vibe.
"Imagine doing this as a first date though, I don't think I'd go that far. I would definitely end up embarrassing myself.
The video's creator explained that Scare City is the only Halloween-themed event she's been too, adding: "I always know it's a guaranteed good night. I mean, yes, traumatised, but all the actors are fab. Like I said, halfway you can have a little party, something to eat, something to drink."
Summing up, she shared two final pieces of advice to anyone looking to book tickets to Scare City 2024, warning: "I definitely recommend going, make sure you take your jacket with you and if you have heart conditions I would just avoid it!"
Those hoping to visit Scare City this year can book tickets online. Standard entry tickets cost £26.95, with gold entry tickets (which include fast track entry to the main entrance and all zones) on sale for £36.95. A booking fee also applies to all online ticket purchases.
