I went to this stunning light trail near Birmingham and felt like I was in the middle of a fairytale

Christmas light trails are becoming increasingly more popular and I'm all here for it. If you ask anyone who knows me, I'm a big lover of Christmas.

And as soon as Halloween and Bonfire Night are over, I'm straight into planning my festive activities. And this year is no exception.

But there was one festive light trail that has been high on my to-visit list for a number of years and I've never quite made it there. So I was determined to not let is pass me by this year.

Just a 50 minute drive from Birmingham city centre, you'll find Webbs of Wychbold. A garden centre of dreams which also transforms into a festive wonderland at Christmas (try and leave there without buying a new bauble or Christmas decoration I dare you).

And for the last few years they've hosted a special Christmas light trail in the Riverside Gardens. This year's theme was the Enchanted Gardens Wonderland.

As soon as I strolled through the gates on opening night, I was mesmerised. And felt like I was right in the middle of the famous fairytale.

You enter through the 'Enchanted Gardens' archway, before hearing that familiar clock ticking. There's something different to look at at every turn - and we first discovered a stunning stained glass window of Alice illuminated in the dark surrounded by light up flowers. Next you drop right down the rabbit hole with a mesmerising display illuminating the floor as you walk on.

Storybook pages tell you the story of Alice in Wonderland as you walk around the trail. It was all completely mesmerising and beautifully laid out.

My personal favourites were the house, the Cheshire Cat and the Queen of Hearts' rose garden. We also loved the huge caterpillar light figure blowing bubbles every so often. There was so many elements to enjoy and you can take your time around the trail taking it all in.

The tea party scene was also extra special - with a real life Alice popping up to interact with the children as they walked round! And watch out for the Queen of Hearts herself - you have to see it to believe it.

There's even an appearance from Father Christmas at the end, taking time to speak to everyone, take photos and wish you a Merry Christmas. You can stop and take photos at any point, and there's plenty of opportunities to get that perfect family selfie.

In all, it took us around an hour to get round the Enchanted Gardens Wonderland at Webbs of Wychbold, stopping to take in various elements and take some photos. And there's even chance to buy some hot drinks and food at the end - not to mention toasting marshmallows!

The light trail is open until January 2, 2025

I've found my new Christmas tradition, thank you Webbs. I'll be back next year - and can't wait to see what you do next.
