'We Went From Tornadoes to Snow': Winter Storm Hits Kentucky

A snowstorm swept through Kentucky on Thursday, January 6, as the National Weather Service forecast up to two inches of snow to fall per hour through the evening.

In other parts of the state, the severe winter weather caused a vehicle pileup on Interstate 64 near Mount Sterling.

This footage, posted to Twitter by Angelina Rivera, shows thick snow covering vehicles in Richmond, Kentucky. “We went from tornadoes to snow here in Eastern Kentucky,” Rivera says in the post.

“At least no one’s house is gonna get knocked down,” she continued, referencing deadly tornadoes that hit the state in early December. Credit: Angelina Rivera via Storyful
