Mark Hamill has revealed that he “made out” with Star Wars co-star Carrie Fisher on the star set of A New Hope.

The Luke Skywalker actor finally admitted that the on-screen siblings locked lips while filming the 1977 sci-fi epic, after years of speculation about their relationship.

“I remember one time – I’m sure alcohol was involved – we were talking about kissing techniques,” he told the Guardian.

“I said: ‘Well, I think I’m a fairly good kisser. I like to let the women come to me rather than be aggressive.’ And she said: ‘What do you mean?’ Well, next thing you know we’re making out like teenagers.”

Hamill went on to say that, despite being attracted to each other, the passionate kissing session didn’t lead to anything more as it would have been a “bad idea.”

“Carrie and I were attracted to one another, but I knew from previous jobs that it would have been a bad idea," he said.

“If I’d had a relationship with her, it would have been like a full-time activity because she was too much for me in every regard: she was too creative, she was too smart. She was just the best.”

Fisher, who died in December last year, recently revealed that she had also had a romantic relationship with Harrison Ford during filming.

Hamill said he was “unaware” of the romance at the time, and only found out from George Lucas’ wife after filming wrapped.

"I’m glad I didn’t know before, as it probably really would have affected me” he said. “By the time I found out, I just thought it was hilarious.”

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is out in cinemas now.
