Wes Nelson left terrified after suffering major on-stage blunder
Wes Nelson has opened up about a harrowing experience during one of his first live gigs- describing it as "terrifying" due to a significant mishap. The reality TV star turned musician, who shot to fame on Love Island in 2018, has seen his music career take off with hits like his 2020 debut 'See Nobody' reaching No3 in the UK charts and 'Abracadabra' featuring Craig David climbing to No37.
However, not all performances have been without their hitches. Recalling a particularly nerve-wracking event, former Newcastle College student Wes, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, said: "One of my first live performances was actually at the Paralympic homecoming at Wembley Arena in 2021. I was performing my song with Clean Bandit, Drive, in front of a packed crowd of fans and Paralympians and it was being broadcast on Channel 4."
He continued, revealing the technical difficulties he faced: "Once I started performing the track I realised my in-ear monitors weren't on, so I couldn't hear the music at all to sing to. Luckily the crowd were clapping along so I managed to stay on beat, but it was terrifying."

Despite his burgeoning fame, former Clayton High School Wes, aged 26, maintains a modest set of demands backstage, confessing: "It's nothing too wild."
He elaborated to the Daily Star on his simple needs: "Plenty of water to stay hydrated, tea to keep my voice in check, some cans of BadWater and a snack stash, including fruit and nuts, that could probably feed a small army."
Wes has been turning heads with his newfound muscular build, following his commitment to physical fitness. Detailing his drive for the transformation, he shared: "I got to the stage where I wanted to feel healthier, more energised and comfortable in my own skin."
He went on to state: "I wanted to push myself further and see what I could achieve with discipline and hard work. I ended up losing a fair amount, roughly around 12kg."
He also gave insights into his lifestyle changes, revealing: "I stayed consistent with my workouts and cleaned up my diet, but I'm all about balance too late-night cravings are real, and Birds Eye's Chicken Shop range has been a lifesaver for those posy-gym refuels. The feedback from fans has been amazing, which motivates me to keep going."
