Dave Wadsworth, executive principal at Shelley College, said: "Everyone at Shelley was deeply saddened to hear the tragic news of Koby’s death over the weekend. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time and we will of course provide any support, including any current students.
"Koby was highly thought of by staff and students. His positive outlook on life and strong friendships stand out amongst many fond memories. Koby particularly enjoyed and excelled in technology and engineering, resulting in him securing an apprenticeship on leaving Shelley.
"A lasting memory of Koby was when he arrived at the Year 13 leavers prom to celebrate the success of his friends, even though he didn’t attend our sixth form. A lovely example of how he put others first and supported his strong friendship group."
Koby's heartbroken grandma, Janice, said Koby had a 'heart of gold'. Koby's devastated cousin posted her own tribute, writing: "We are a heartbroken family because of the loss of my cousin Koby, taken way to soon and he will be missed and loved and never forgotten about. We love you Koby."
One friend described Koby as "one of the most genuine, caring people I've ever met" and said he had the "loudest most contagious laugh ever".
West Yorkshire Police are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision. Anyone with information is asked to call police, quoting reference 1810 of 24/1.
