Queens Park Rangers endured a torrid afternoon as they were defeated 7-1 at West Brom, with Steve McClaren’s men sitting not so pretty at the foot of the Championship table.

Rangers fans would have been encouraged at half-time as Joel Lynch levelled things for the away side after Phillips’ opener.

Matt Phillips and Jay Rodriguez each grabbed a brace for the baggies as Dwight Gayle and Kieran Gibbs scored their first goals for the club.

Hal Robson-Kanu rubbed salt into QPR wounds with a seventh, bringing an end to a manic second half at the Hawthorns.

The away side only managed to muster two shots on goal on an afternoon that McClaren and his players will want to forget about very quickly.

Darren Moore’s second win of the season lifts the Baggies up to third in the Championship table, with the midlands side looking to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
