A popular West End street was closed today for a community event.

The Queen Margaret Drive Festival was held today from 11am and was a free programme.

Filled with rides, games, face painting, performers, music, food and activities, the funday attracted many local residents, who enjoyed the day.

Despite the chilly weather, hundreds took part in the celebration, which was organised by Halo Arts, a local non-profit organisation.

Brandon McIlroy, Artistic Director of organiser Halo Arts, said: "More so now than ever with everything that has happened in the past few years, community events are of vital importance.

"People need the opportunity to come back together and these events are free, accessible and inclusive.

"We welcome everybody, young and old and also give performers and artists a platform to do their thing.

"In the West End of Glasgow particularly, there are so many events that come with a hefty price tag, we are not about that, all of our events are free and will always be.

"This is about opening up streets and holding parties, festivals for the public and it's an opportunity for Queen Margaret Drive to show what it is all about."
