Winston Reid insists West Ham's summer signings have "fitted in perfectly" and believes the new acquisitions will help the Hammers move forward this season.

Slaven Bilic oversaw the signings of striker Javier Hernandez, defender Pablo Zabaleta, forward Marko Arnautovic and the loan acquisition of goalkeeper Joe Hart this summer as the West Ham boss sought to bolster his squad and improve on the club's 11th-place finish of last term.

All four started at Old Trafford as West Ham lost their opening game of the new Premier League campaign 4-0 to Manchester United.

Yet despite the heavy loss, Reid insists that West Ham's new quartet have slotted in seamlessly and believes they will play a big role in helping the east London side finish higher up in the Premier League table than last season.

"It does help that the players we have signed have played in the Premier League before," he told West Ham's official website.

"I’m sure that, once we get things gelling and have had another week working hard on the training pitch, we’ll be a lot better.

"The new players have fitted in perfectly and they’ll help us move forward."
