West Ham full-back Ryan Fredericks has been ruled out for three months with a shin injury.

Fredericks, who joined on a free transfer having left Fulham in the summer, was injured after coming on as a substitute in West Ham’s 1-1 draw at Huddersfield.

He joins Manuel Lanzini, Andriy Yarmolenko, Winston Reid and Carlos Sanchez on the long-term injured list, while Jack Wilshere and Andy Carroll are at different stages of recovery.

Manuel Pellegrini will at least be bolstered by the return of captain Mark Noble who has served his suspension following a red card at Leicester as the Chilean takes on former club Manchester City at London Stadium on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Hammers are back in court this week as they dispute match day capacity with owners, the London Legacy Development Corporation. The east Londoners want to increase the capacity by 3,000 to 60,000 and then, eventually, to 66,000, which would take the venue above Tottenham’s new 62,062 seat stadium.
