West Ham a 'downgrade' on Celtic as Chris Sutton fires Brendan Rodgers warning to admiring Hammers
There is already pressure mounting on Julen Lopetegui but West Ham fans have been told they are DOWNGRADE on Celtic.
The Spaniard has been brought in to change the style after punters grew weary of David Moyes' functional yet uninspiring way of playing in East London. But mixed results to start the season, coupled with Saturday's 3-0 home drubbing to Chelsea, have some Hammers demanding a change already.
One suggested Brendan Rodgers would have been a better choice to replace Moyes in the summer and should the club's board decide to cut the Spaniard loose, then the Parkhead boss' name would no doubt come up after a blistering start to the to Scottish Premiership season and a five star Champions League bow against Slovan Bratislava. But former Hoops Hero and Record Sport columnist Chris Sutton insists Rodgers wouldn't take the step down to West Ham on the 606 football phone-in.
Caller: “Another possible name that I think would have done a good job was Brendan Rodgers.
Sutton: “He’s at a huge club north of the border.”
Caller: “I think if the money was right he might have gone to West Ham.”
Sutton: “Oh come on. He wouldn’t want to downgrade to West Ham from Celtic.”
